I love to photograph anything. This page includes all the details about booking a session with me. Information on weddings and brand photography can be found elsewhere. Details about my Motherhood Collective are below. Click the images below to learn more about that session type.
Maternity sessions follow the same guidelines as family sessions, but newborns are a little different.
I only do full portrait sessions for newborns (not minis) to allow plenty of time to comfort/feed baby if needed. This way, there's no added stress from feeling rushed.
Maternity sessions usually take place between 30-34 weeks gestation. For newborns, I schedule you on my calendar for your due date and check in with you as it approaches to see how things are going. Once you and baby come home from the hospital and are feeling up to it, we get a solid date on the calendar. (These are usually best within the first two weeks of baby's life, but I take a flexible approach! If you need more time to heal, that's great too.)
I have two session options: full or mini. Full sessions last 1-2 hours and mini sessions are 30 minutes long. I prefer mini sessions to be local, but love to travel for full sessions. Both options come with a certain number of digital images, with the option to purchase the full gallery of images for an additional fee. (See investment information below.)
I love to photograph you in your home, in your most meaningful spaces. The kids are relaxed there, and so is dad. Shoes? Who needs them when you're at home! One less thing to have to think about. And no, your home doesn't have to be a mansion or perfectly tidy. It just has to be yours. <3
Want your session to be on-location somewhere? I can recommend my favorite spots local and state-wide, but it's always nice when we can come up with a spot that's meaningful to you. Don't hesitate to think outside of the box! The location is up to you, but I'm happy to help guide you with my favorite spots as well.
Most people book a wedding collection with me that includes an engagement and bridal session, but I do book them outside of collections as well.
I recommend full sessions for engagements and bridals (instead of minis). For engagement sessions, I recommend choosing a location that means something to the couple or represents them well. I love trying new locations, but have plenty of places I can recommend as well. I'm always happy to help brainstorm the perfect place.
For bridal sessions, most brides will choose their venue or church where they grew up for their session. (Although many just opt for a location with gorgeous scenery too.)
Senior portrait sessions can be full or mini—I do a lot of both! If you want to do photos at several spots at your campus/school, I recommend a full session. Don't forget to bring your cap & gown!
I offer stand-alone mini sessions at any time just like full portrait sessions, but I also do "marathon" mini sessions, which take place with a limited number of spots on a set date. (These sessions happen back to back in one location.) Dates are TBD every year and will be announced first to my newsletter subscribers. (Sign up there if you're interested in these, as they often sell out via my email list before I have a chance to announce them anywhere else.) Most of these sessions will take place in and around Columbia, SC, but I also try to host a few days of mini sessions in Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC each year.
Karly is an absolutely dream to work with. We had to reschedule our sessions a couple of times due to situations out of either of our control and she was helpful and organized throughout the whole process. She was SO GOOD with our 10 month old, my husband said “she is the best person I’ve ever seen interact with Arthur other than you and I” and he wasn’t exaggerating, we were all so comfortable with her. Our pictures are beautiful and timeless, exactly what we wanted to capture this sweet time of our lives with our little boy. Thanks for everything, Karly! We will you see you again! ❤️

Karly is incredible and her work is simply amazing. Her photography style is natural, light & airy, and she just has a way of making every detail look beautiful. She is super sweet, quick to respond, goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable, and is worth every single penny. She’s done our family photos for several years, including a very large extended family session with 30 people. Imagine trying to get that many people (and soooo many children) to look in the same direction at once. Not only did the photos turn out fantastic, she managed to capture everyone’s personality beautifully! I just love Karly and her work, and I’m privileged to have her capture our family memories.

Karly did such an amazing job photographing the birth of our son! She was prompt getting back to me when I first reached out and the entire time leading up to the birth. She stayed for my entire (very long) birth and was so helpful, kind and professional the whole time! She was very prompt in getting pictures to me and sent several to me before the full gallery was ready. We will definitely be using her again in the future!
