I met Asha + Mattison at Starbucks to make sure we were a good fit before they booked me. I felt so comfortable with them from the moment I sat down. Asha’s beautiful smile made me feel warm, and Mattison was so easy-going. I loved listening to the vision for their wedding day. I always love getting to hear a couples’ thoughts and ideas before the day comes so I can have an idea of what they’re dreaming of and what to expect.
Their wedding day came and it rained ALL. DAY. A tropical storm showed up with the daylight and the rain didn’t stop even for a second the entire Saturday. There were parts of the day with drizzles and parts with heavy rain and wind, but rain we had. Normally this might stress me out a little bit. But I knew that Mattison + Asha would have a beautiful, heartfelt day, even in the rain. I knew that it wouldn’t put a damper on anything—that it would only add to the beautiful story being told.
And I was right. Living out this day with them, and looking back over these photos, I see their vision. The one they told me about that day at Starbucks. I see their dream wedding. Because as Asha put it: it was just so THEM. Everything about it felt like them. And I just love that.
Rain or shine, it didn’t matter—they got married and it was a beautiful, sweet, romantic celebration of love.
Enjoy my favorite images from their day!
Most images photographed on Fuji 400h medium format film. (Plus a couple of digitals for when the rain made it a little too dark for film. (:)
