I talk about shooting film a lot here on my website and on Instagram because I love it so much, and I know most people aren’t familiar with what it means to photograph in film these days. This entire session was captured on fuji400h medium format film, and I just know that I’ll never want to use anything else to capture precious memories for people. When I get the film scans back from the lab, I am always in awe of how beautiful they are. I never look at a film image and see the “photograph.” I don’t think of the photographer that took it, or the things that came together to make it the image that it is…when I look at film scans, I feel more than I see.
That was definitely the case with these scans from Macayla + Gibb’s engagement session. When I opened my inbox, I got teary-eyed over how beautiful it is to love someone else, and how sweet it is that I got to photograph the love between these two. <3
We had such a fun time roaming the gardens of the beautiful Wavering Place Plantation, and we weren’t even bothered by the rain that lightly fell on us part of the time. Macayla and Gibb laughed, snuggled under the trees, and danced through the sidewalks of the luscious gardens.
Enjoy my favorites, and let me know what you think!
P.S. I have started a collection of butterflies photographed on film during sessions, and I got one during theirs…LOVE!
