My Favorite 3 Love Songs for Weddings + My Best Tip for Finding More

It was two nights before my wedding when I finally sent my DJ a playlist of songs I wanted. (He hated me, I’m sure.) IT WAS SO HARD TO DECIDE. I picked out the perfect song for when I walked down the aisle (one Tyler liked also), but other than that, I had no clue what song to pick for anything else!

But after helping countless brides plan out the details of their day, I’ve discovered so many beautiful wedding songs, and even a really awesome tip for finding more! (And no, it’s not perusing a million blog articles of song lists. That takes forever!) So without further ado, here are my current top 3 favorite love songs, and my best tip on finding the perfect songs that YOU will love.

Better Place, Rachel Platten

When I first heard this song, I cried like a baby. And then the next time I heard it, I cried like a baby again. And almost every single time after that. It takes effort for me to listen to it without crying. It just speaks to me and how I feel about marriage—I really believe that love makes us all better. That, as individuals who get to love and be loved by one person that God made just for you, it makes you better. Life is better because he loves you and because you love him. So, yeah. Tears for this one.

I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),
Sleeping At Last

This is a much better (in my opinion) cover song than the original. The original song was played a million times in How I Met Your Mother, and it made me laugh every time I heard it. When I heard this version, I barely even recognized it. I just love the sweetness of the words, and the soft tones of the piano. (Pianos always get me.)

I Get to Love You, Ruelle

I’m realizing now with my song choices that I just love songs played on the piano. The sound is just so sweet, and when you pair it with words about being in love, you just can’t go wrong. Have a listen for yourself. <3

Now—these songs may be the opposite of the type of music you love. You may love country, or something more upbeat, and that’s ok. Here’s my tip for finding songs YOU will love—think of one love song that you like and search for it on YouTube. (You can even use one of the songs above. Or “Take My Hand (The Wedding Song)” might be a good place to start too.) Then scroll down and listen to some of the recommended videos, or even just let it play while you work until you come across songs that you love. You could also do this same thing with Pandora or Spotify stations, but I’ve found that it works really well on YouTube, because most often the videos that pop up as recommendations match the theme of the songs versus the genre. So the genre may change a little, but it will stay on theme with love songs.

Give it a try and let me know what songs you find! I’d love to know your favorites!
